We decided to take a weekend family trip with Reuben’s sister Sacha to Pai (pronounced Bye) – a cute little town in the hills. It was quite a road to get up there – hundreds of curves later we were very happy to find ourselves at Coffee in Love where we watched the sun set and sipped our coffee. After getting settled in we headed to the night market, where we found a tea ninja making tea in bamboo cups – how could we resist?

The next day we headed out to Pai canyon. After getting lost on our way to town, we made it to the Canyon where we hiked around, got lost and found out that jandals are not really appropriate footwear for the canyon!

Following our exercise, we drove to a nearby waterfall for swimming – but were distracted by giant hamster balls on the lake. How could we resist having a go in these? After 15 minutes of falling in them we were hot and dizzy – definitely time for a swim at the beautiful waterfall we found.

After that adventure, we headed back to town for lunch before driving outside of town in search of the Secret Hot Springs…that were also much cheaper than the well known ones. Here we soaked in tranquility in a natural pool (well, it was tranquil except for the random tourists who brought a tight rope?!)

Later that evening, we decided to share the love of Pai with our family and made our own postcards to send to them. Love you families!

The next day we spent a relaxing morning at the treehouse at our place before heading back to Chiang Mai – but not without a stop for popcorn at the very cute container cafe! We had a fantastic family weekend away – we can wholeheartedly recommend Pai!

That was an awesome weekend!!! Can’t believe how much we fit into that small space of time!

What a great weekend — so much fun in such a short time! And educational, too — it’s good to know that jandals and hiking should usually be in separate sentences.
