Relaxing on Mirissa Beach

The south coast of Sri Lanka has some stunning beaches – we decided to stay at Mirissa, known for being one of the more chilled out beaches.  We booked rooms at a beautiful hotel where each morning we could have breakfast under the palm trees, looking at the ocean and the nearby island – such a fantastic way to start the day.

We spent three days swimming, sunbathing, climbing the little island, eating local street food and visiting our favourite beach restaurant (cheap cocktails plus you could pick your own fresh fish and have it cooked up for you – the fish was amazing!)

We had a great few days here – the water was warm and inviting, there was a calm beach to relax on and a  second beach with lots of waves to play on and it was a nice change of pace after our busy travel days.  We all agreed that Mirissa looked like something out of a travel brochure!
