Nainital

We decided to go check out Nainital, another hill station. In amongst the fog and rain we had two fun days here.  Nainital is a crater lake surrounded by hills – it is beautiful and very relaxing.

We visited the Nainital zoo and saw tiger, bears and leopards, before heading down to the other end of the lake and exploring the temple, the markets and the mosque.  We took a paddleboat out on the lake and had the eery experience of the fog coming in over us as we paddled.

We travelled up a big hill by gondola, trying in vain to spot the Himalayas.  We tried to dodge the frequent rain showers and admired the atmospheric fog sweeping down over the hills! Nainital was a lovely place to visit – a bit off the beaten track, but only a bus ride away from Kathgodam where we arrived and left by train.
