We decided to visit Vancouver Island for a night as Reuben’s cousin Hannah is working at Camp Qwanoes on the island. Vancouver Island is a two hour ferry ride away from Vancouver, and is a huge place. Hannah picked us up from the ferry and we went to Coombes, a quirky little place whose claim to fame is having goats that live on the roof of the market.

We then drove over to the beach, where we paddled for awhile before making a mad dash for our clothes when the tide turned (we only just made it!) We went for dinner at White Spot, a British Columbia restaurant chain that has really nice food.

After dinner we headed back to camp, where Hannah gave us the grand tour and showed us the stunning views.

We joined the kids for some of their Q Town (singing and teaching) and Fireside Time, then headed over to the guest house, a beautiful old home where we spent the night. In the morning we joined Hannah for breakfast then headed back to the Mainland for our drive back to the USA.

Ooh, that looks like a whole lot of fun – especially the goats 🙂

Looks like an amazing place for a summer camp. Wish I was young enough to be a camper again!
