Queenstown to Wanaka

One of the highlights of our time in Queenstown was taking the gondola up behind Queenstown in the late afternoon. The Remarkables were nearly clear, and while we were up there we went luging. Luging is incredible fun – a lot like sledding but on a concrete surface. Reuben managed to beat me down the track pretty consistently!

We drove to Wanaka over the Crown Range road – which we learned after the fact is the highest public road in New Zealand, and not covered by many insurance companies! Reuben did a great job, and got us to Puzzling World in Wanaka safely. Puzzling World has both Illusion Rooms and an outdoor maze. We took the challenge of completing the maze in order (going to all four corners in order of colour) and were stoked to complete it in under an hour (recommended time is 1-1.5 hours). We both felt a little dizzy after the Illusion Room, but made it to our campsite north of Wanaka, on the shores of the lake.

Mwahaha, all your recent comments are mine! 😀

Puzzling World is neat, I’d love to go back there sometime. Otoh, I’ve never been luging, and I’m not entirely convinced I want to – maybe on a really easy track, since I value my life.
