On our second day in Venice we went to the Rialto bridge (pictured above) and markets. (You can’t really see the graffiti that unfortunately covered the bridge!) Here we strolled, looking at the shops and stalls, before going by water bus to the island of Murano, where Murano glass comes from. Here we saw a glass making demonstration and went to the glass museum as well as popping into countless shops to see a dazzling array of things to buy. You could spend very little for fake glass right up to thousands of dollars for some beautiful pieces. Murano was really quiet and peaceful – we really enjoyed ourafternoon there.

On our last day in Venice we separated with Karen and Julie enjoying the fabulous modern art at the Peggy Guggenheim museum while Lynette and Reubs went for a walk and shopped.

We came back together to do the most classic of Venice traditions – a gondola ride through the back canals, to the Rialto bridge and across the Grand Canal. This was pricey but wonderful and we were really glad we had splurged on this! We loved our time in Venice!

Awesome! reminds me of my trip to Venice and Murano, loved it!
